Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry : RedHat Academy

The awareness program on the job opportunities in the local and global market with the RedHat certification was conducted by industry experts along with the NIBM RedHat Academy on the 14th of February 2019. The session was conducted by Mr. Lalindra Munasinghe Senior Manager- Enterprise Business, Bharti Airtel Lanka (private) limited for over 75 students from NIBM.  The students were notified about the endless opportunities in the IT industry and how the positions stay vacant due to candidates being not suitable. Mr. Munasinghe further explained on how one must develop their skills and what certifications to acquire to be considered in the proper job market globally. Regardless of the area you study in Information Technology, he explained which RedHat certification, one must obtained to pursue his/ her career goals. NIBM Become The Emerging Cisco Academy for CCNA in Sri Lanka

NIBM was awarded as The Emerging Cisco Academy for CCNA in Sri Lanka-2018 in the SAARC-Cisco Networking Academy Conference held on 8 Nov 2018 at Hotel Galadari. Mr. Omar Shaban, Director - Global operations, Cisco Networking Academy ,Mr Murugan Vasudevan, Regional manager - India SAARC , Networking Academy, Corporate affairs, Cisco systems, Mrs Kalhari Kaluarachchi, Program Manager - SAARC , Networking Academy, Corporate affairs, Cisco systems. And also, Mr Ananth Rao, Technical Manager APJ, Networking Academy, Corporate affairs, Cisco systems were present in this prestigious occasion. Network is the platform. Therefore, for any organization it is important to have professionals maintaining their networks. This is why still the CCNA Routing and switching certification is very popular. NIBM engaged in the Cisco Academy program from the year 2017. This year NIBM Academy has shown reasonably good performance in CCNA R & S category compared to others.

SATHKARA by NIBM Matara Regional Centre

The Matara Regional Centre of NIBM along with the HDBM 18.1 batch of its students conducted a CSR project at M/Thalahagama Pratamika Vidyalaya in Thalahagama, Akuressa.  There were over 150 students who benefited from this project as it was conducted to uplift the standards of the school so that the students would experience a better studying environment. 120 books were given to the Library of this school along with 5 book racks to keep them in place. Java Meetup 2018

The National Institute of Business Management ,School of Computing organized a Java Meet Up 2018  on 10th of November 2018 from 9AM to 3PM at the NIBM Auditorium. The main purpose of this event was to provide knowledge on the latest technologies of java to the University students. Around 100 participants from NIBM, National and private Universities participated in this event.  The meet up was organized by the students of BSc(Hons) Computing and by the members of CodeLabzs Computer Society of NIBM.  The guest speakers of the meet up were Mr. Dilanka Muthukumarana  Senior Tech lead of Cambio Software Engineering (Pvt) Ltd and Mr. Lakshitha Ranasinghe, Senior Software Engineer of Contents Management Solutions (Pvt) Ltd.

NIBM proudly presents 3 projects from its ongoing students at INFOTEL 2018, the largest ICT Exhibition in Sri Lanka. JHome Which is a smart home technology, also known as home automation, provides home owners security, comfort, convenience and energy efficiency by allowing them to control smart devices, often by a smart home app on their smartphone or other networked device. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Institute of Business Management, the Students of Ethical hacking and Network Security of Coventry University whom are also students of  the Cisco Networking Academy held The Inter- University hackathon “ CyberFest 2018 : CTF ” as a collaboration with Coventry University and The Cisco Networking Academy. With the participation of 40 teams from both National and Private Universities such as University of Colombo (UOC), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (UOSJP), University of Moratuwa (UOM), Kothalawala Defense University (KDU), NSBM, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) and many more, the event was held on the 8th of September from 8.30 a.m onwards.
